Most dates go well. These habits help keep it that way. HappyGavel does not run background checks, so your own judgment is the best protection.
Before the date
- Read the other person's profile and look at all of their photos. Be careful if the photos or story seem inconsistent.
- Chat in the site's messages first. Keep your phone number, home address and workplace private until you feel comfortable.
- Be careful of anyone who asks for money, gift cards or bank details, or who wants to move to another app right away.
On the date
- Meet in a busy public place. Make your own way there and back.
- Tell a friend where you are going, who with, and when you expect to be home. Share your location if you can.
- Keep an eye on your drink and your belongings.
- You can leave at any time, for any reason.
If something is wrong
- In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the United States).
- On a member's profile or date page you can report them (fake profile, inappropriate photos, harassment, scam, unsafe behavior) or block them. Blocked members cannot message you.

A date here is a social meeting only. Nobody owes you anything beyond a respectful time, and you owe the same. No means no.
