This explains what HappyGavel collects about you, why, and who can see it.
What we collect
- Account details: email address and password (the password is stored in scrambled form, never in plain text).
- Profile: first name, city, a short bio, and 1 to 4 photos.
- Date of birth: used to confirm you are 18 or older.
- Activity: dates you offer, bids you place, messages, notifications, and any reports or blocks.
- Payment details: when payments are added, card details are handled by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
Who can see what
- Other signed-in members can see your first name, age, city, bio and photos. Your exact date of birth and email address are never shown to other members.
- People who are not signed in can see dates and their photos, but not member profiles.
- Messages can be read by the two people in the conversation and by an admin if needed to look into a report.
- Admins can see reports, profiles and dates to keep the site safe.
Why we use it
To run auctions, confirm ages, let members message, keep the site safe, handle payments and payouts, and show the total given to charity. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who helps us run the site
We use outside services to host the site and store data (currently Supabase and Vercel), and will use a payment provider and an email service when those features launch. They may handle your data only to provide their service to us.
We may share information when
- the law requires it, or to respond to a valid legal request
- it is needed to protect someone's safety or investigate fraud or abuse
- the business is sold or merged (you would be told)
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. Bid and payment records may be kept longer where needed for accounting, legal or safety reasons. You can ask us to delete your account and profile at any time.
Your choices
You can edit your name, city, bio and photos on the My profile page. You can ask us to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights by law, and we will honor them.
Children
HappyGavel is for adults only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
Cookies and storage
We use only what is needed to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising trackers.
